Queenie Anne Tashjian


Queenie Anne (Heditsian) Tashjian, 93, of Demarest, NJ passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017.  Born and raised in Providence, RI, she resided in Demarest for 58 years.  A faithful member of St. Thomas Armenian Apostolic Church in Tenafly, she was a first grade Armenian school teacher for 42 years, as well as coordinator of the annual blood drive for many years.  As an active member of her Demarest community, she served as a Girl Scout leader and volunteer town librarian.  Mrs. Tashjian also served as the Director of the Senior Citizen Program at St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral in New York City.  Queenie enjoyed making pottery and, especially, traveling with her friends and family to places as varied as Soviet Armenia, Lebanon, Alaska, Japan, Portugal and Scotland

Beloved wife of the late Ira Tashjian.  Loving and devoted mother of Deborah Tashjian, Gary Tashjian and wife Eileen Schofield, and Kenneth Tashjian.  Dear sister of Manoog Heditsian and the late Alice Avedesian and Corinne Heditsian.

The family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, October 7, 2017, 9 AM – 12:15PM with a service following at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500.  Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Queenie may be made to Alzheimer’s New Jersey, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
