Doris Paris


Doris Paris, 102, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday afternoon.

Doris was raised by her caring "Aunt" Belle and " Uncle" Burt, living down the street from her siblings and parents in Antrim, a tiny Pennsylvania mining town,

 Doris is predeceased  by Lou, her loving husband of 62 years, sisters Sadie Fiester, Jean Campbell, brothers George, Curtis and Bill Heatley and sister-in-law Lillian Schafer.

Doris is survived by her much loved sons Joel, and his wife Laurene, Jerome, and Gary, daughter Joan, grandchildren  Kristina, Mark and Megan, nieces and nephews.

 She was a follower of Jesus Christ, loved her family, home and country.  She enjoyed working in her garden, preparing for her classes, and  having family and friends over for lovingly prepared meals,

 Doris was a deacon emeritus, a member of the Mary Cooke missionary group, and she taught Sunday School for over 40 years, first at Broadway Baptist Church in Paterson, then continuing when they merged with Van Riper Ellis in Fair Lawn.  She also taught Tuesday morning Bible class, first at Fair Lawn Bible Church, and then continuing in her home after she was no longer able to drive.  The room where she taught Sunday school at VREBBC is now named the Doris Paris Room in honor of her devotion to teaching God's Word.

Family will receive friends and family on Monday, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral  Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:00, Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Doris to Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church.

Doris was such a beautiful lady, inside and out. She touched so many people in her long life, with her love for the Lord. I know she will be missed deeply. She always had kind words and a great sense of humor. God bless you Doris. Thank
