Edward Byrne


Edward Byrne of Saddle Brook, NJ passed away on January 8, 2018 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.  He died peacefully surrounded by the family he loved and served.  He was 90 years old. 

Born on September 2nd, 1928 in Hackensack, NJ and raised in Lodi, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Anna Troast Byrne.  He was predeceased by his sister, Geraldine, and brothers, James and Wilfred.  Ed is survived by his brother Harvey.

Ed enjoyed fishing and playing golf with his lifelong friends.  His life, however, was devoted to his family.  Countless hours were spent at ball games, outings and regular family gatherings.

Ed leaves behind his wife Theresa of 67 years, a daughter, Mary Mulvaney and husband Raymond, and three sons, Ray and wife Donna, Dan and wife Teresa and John and wife Debbie.  Edward has 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.  He shall continue to be loved.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  A brief viewing and prayer service is planned for Friday, January 12, 2018, 10 am at the funeral home with interment following at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for the Byrne family. My thoughts are with you, Mrs. Byrne . I hope to be seeing more of you on our block. Mr. Byrne will be greatly missed . He had a big influence on my life growing up with Johnny. i will certainly miss him. Gary Bukowski

Cindy and I are shocked and saddened to hear of Ed's passing. Our prayers go out to the Byrne family, Ed will be sorely missed by all who knew him. The world lost another good one.
