Marie Vance


Marie (Schiazza) Vance, 94, of Glen Rock, NJ passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.  Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she resided in Glen Rock since 1977.  A faithful and active parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Ridgewood, she served as a Eucharistic Minister.  A selfless woman, she volunteered with Valley Hospital in Ridgewood for over 20 years and with St. Catharine Church in Glen Rock.  An avid Bingo player, Marie also enjoyed bowling, theater and singing.

Prior to retiring, she was a secretary with the Grand Union Company in Paramus for ten years.

Beloved wife of the late Roger Vance.  Loving and devoted mother of Rosemary McDonald, Jane Mehta and husband Vineet, Albert Vance and wife Connie, Marian Meyer and husband Steve, Roland Vance and wife JoAnne, Dolores O’Neill and husband Mark, Frances Baker and the late Kenneth Vance.  Cherished grandmother of 19 and great-grandmother of 26.

The family will receive family and friends Friday, March 16, 2018, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  A Funeral Mass is planned for Saturday, March 17, 2018, 9:30 am at Our Lady of Mt Carmel R.C. Church, 1 Passaic Street, Ridgewood, NJ.  Interment will follow at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Fair Lawn.

 In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marie to Alzheimer’s NJ, 425 Eagle Rock Avenue, Suite 203, Roseland, NJ  07068 would be appreciated.

To Fran, Dolores and all the family that I've known since Jr. High, my heart is sad for you all but I'm also joyful and laughing at all the great memories of your Mom and being in your home all those years, feeling like I was just another one of her kids.
