Patricia "Tricia" Arslanian

Patricia “Tricia” (McGlade) Arslanian, 76, of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018.  Born in Paterson, NJ, she was raised in Paterson and Fair Lawn and resided in New York City, Oakland and Hammonton, NJ prior to settling back in Fair Lawn with her family 24 years ago.  Tricia loved the theater, frequently attending Broadway and off-Broadway shows, sharing her love of drama with family and friends, and was herself a drama student who took acting classes over many years and wrote several original plays and performed in several off-Broadway productions.  Her screenplay adaptation of the novel “Gus In Bronze”, a story of the last days of a wife and mother of three children, dying of cancer, was praised by the author Alexandra Marshall.  A true artist, she wove her understanding of drama and performance into every facet of her life, particularly in her lifelong devotion to the social welfare of others.  After her graduation from Montclair State College, Tricia taught at Cresskill High School where she found a lifelong friend in Barbara Goodman.  Tricia then served as a caseworker with the New York City Bureau of Child Welfare in the Bronx where she took leave to make a full-length movie in Jamaica.  After raising her family, she returned to work and served as a Case Manager with the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging followed by 20 years as the Director of the Northwest Bergen Senior Activity Center in Midland Park.  In addition to implementing services and new programs for her seniors, she was instrumental in successfully fighting “thuggery” of some officers in her union.  Tricia also assisted her deaf seniors in reversing National Park Service policy and securing ASL Interpreters at National Park Services, thus ending a battle that the deaf nationwide will no longer have to fight.  The marks of Tricia’s gentle love and fierce passion can be found in the words she wrote, the lives she changed, and the memories she created with those who loved her as she moved across the stage, spoke on behalf of others, reveled in her kids and grandkids, and walked the sands of Long Beach Island.

Beloved wife of George Arslanian. Cherished mother of Nicole A. McCarthy and husband George, Gregory S. Arslanian and wife Amber and Adam K. Arslanian and wife Tiffany.  Loving and devoted grandmother of Maeve Arin, Norah Ani, George Thomas and Fiona Aline McCarthy and Lily Harper and Milo George Arslanian.  Caring sister of Jeanne Pergentile and late husband John, brother John McGlade and wife Patricia, brother Thomas McGlade and wife Linda and sister Chris McGlade. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
