Frank "Hank" Vander Wiede


Frank "Hank" Vander Wiede, 93, a lifelong resident of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018.  He proudly served with the U. S. Army during World War II.  A faithful parishioner of St. Anne R.C. Church in Fair Lawn, he organized bus service to the church every Sunday.  An involved member of his community, he was a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America Fair Lawn Chapter and a volunteer with the Stroke Center in Paramus.  Frank was also a member and former Captain of the NJ Transit Bowling Team and a member of the Bergen County Model Railroad Club.

Prior to retiring in 1986, he was a bus operator with NJ Transit for 38 years. 

Beloved husband of Ann T. (Zisa) Vander Wiede.  Loving and devoted father of Ted Vander Wiede, Kenan Vander Wiede and wife, Florina, Kathleen Maikis and wife Lil Corcoran, Mary Beth Grenner and husband Bob, the late Karen Vander Wiede and the late Robert Vander Wiede and surviving spouse Mary Jane.  Dear brother of the late June Pagano and husband Nicholas, Abraham Vander Wiede and wife Sue and John Vander Wiede and wife Evelyn.  Cherished grandfather of Timothy, Jennifer, Christopher, Kevin, Lauren, Kristie, Theo, Kara, Erin, Matt, Brady-Lyn, Michella and Kenrin.  Adored great-grandfather of 17.  He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, April 4, 2018, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  A Funeral Mass is planned for Thursday, April 5, 2018, 10:30 am at St. Anne R.C. Church, 15-05 St. Anne Street, Fair Lawn, NJ.  Interment will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park in Totowa.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148 would be appreciated.
