Panagiotis "Pete" Sotirhos

Panagiotis “Pete” Sotirhos, age 89, of Paramus, NJ passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 19, 2018.  

Born in the village of Akrasi on the island of Lesvos, Greece, he immigrated to the United States of America in 1955.  Pete was the much-loved owner and operator of The New Skyway Diner, in South Kearny, NJ for over 40 years. Outside of the diner, he loved to garden, listen to Greek music and spend time with family – especially his grandchildren.

Beloved husband of Konstantina Helen (nee Kalamoutsos).  Loving and devoted father of Peggy (Giles Nicholson) and Mary (Steven Kavney).  Adored grandfather of Ian and Peter Nicholson, and Elena and Nicholas Kavney.  Cherished uncle of Aris Sapikas.  He is predeceased by his sisters Myrsina Sofianou and Demetra Sapikas.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, October 21, 2018, 4:30 – 8 pm with Trisagion at 5 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home.  A funeral service is planned for Monday, October 22, 2018, 10:30 am at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 51 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ.  Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
