Alice M. Giegler


Alice M. (O’Neil) Giegler, age 94, of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Yonkers, NY and raised in Bronxville, NY, she resided in Fair Lawn for 67 years.  A faithful parishioner of St. Anne R.C. Church in Fair Lawn, she was a member of the Rosary Society.  She was also a member of The Valley Hospital Ladies Auxiliary in Ridgewood.  Fond of the ocean, seagulls and lighthouses, Alice also enjoyed painting, knitting, chocolate but above all else spending time with family who she loved dearly.  Alice will be remembered as the family correspondent – keeping everyone connected, her appreciation for the color blue and especially her devotion to family.

Beloved wife of the late Henry C. Giegler.  Loving and devoted mother of James Giegler, Katherine Serviss and husband Curtis, Margaret Giegler Arney and husband John Arney and John H. Giegler and wife Marina.  Cherished grandmother “Mimi” of Erika, Erin, Megan, Ryan, Mark, John A. III, Molly Alice, Francis, John Paul and Joanna.  Adored great-grandmother “Mimi” of 15.  Dear sister of the late L. Gerald O’Neil, Jr. and John T. O’Neil.

For services in remembrance of Alice / Mimi, the family asks you wear a touch of blue. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, October 25, 2018, 4-8 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano-Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  A Funeral Mass is planned for Friday, October 26, 2018, 10:30 am at St. Anne R.C. Church, 15-05 St. Anne Street, Fair Lawn, NJ.  Please meet at church to allow the family a private visitation.  Interment immediately following mass at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
