Karen E. DeMartini

Karen E. (Bell) DeMartini, age 59, a resident of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.

Karen grew up in Fair Lawn, NJ, later resided in Franklin Lakes & Bloomingdale, NJ where she raised her children.  A love for fitness, she owned and operated Flanders Fitness in Flanders, NJ, before settling down in East Hampton, NY.

Like her father, she was great with her hands and enjoyed wallpapering, sewing, landscaping, cooking and fishing.  We fondly remember summers spent with her at her home in East Hampton where she loved to swim in the ocean with her children, nieces and nephews.  She was the life of any family gathering and her laughter and humor will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her mother, Rita F. (Dowling) Bell, her partner of 18 years Andrew Haven, children, Natalie DeMartini and partner Dennis Kromer, Paul DeMartini and wife Lauren, like a daughter, her niece Alison Bell, sister Susan Lizzi and husband Richard, brother Michael Bell.  Cherished Aunt of Suzanne Lizzi and husband Travis Paine and Carolyn Noce and husband Patrick. Adored grandmother of Evelyn DeMartini. Great Aunt of Joseph Lizzi.  She is pre-deceased by her father, Albert W. Bell.

The family will receive relatives and friends Friday, January 4, 2019, 5-8 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500, www.vpfairlawn.com.  A funeral service is planned for Saturday, January 5, 2019, 10 am at the funeral home.  Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Karen to Carrier Clinic, 252 County Road 601, Belle Mead, NJ 08502, www.carrierclinic.com would be appreciated.
