Douglas Norman Focht, Jr.


Douglas Norman Focht, Jr., age 74, of Newton, NJ went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2019.  Born in Reading, PA and raised in Fair Lawn, NJ, he resided in Newton for 13 years.  He proudly served as a medic with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  Doug was a talented banjo player and passionate about music, especially classical, bluegrass and ragtime. His greatest passion was studying the Bible and sharing God’s word with others.

His faithful service included serving as a minister of several area churches including the Church of Christ in Wharton and the Church of Christ in Fair Lawn as well as congregations in East Orange and Washington, NJ.

Beloved husband of Joan (Norvell) Focht.  Loving and devoted father of Jonathan Focht and wife Sarah.  Cherished grandfather of Peter and Claudia Focht.  Dear brother of Dennis Focht and Christina Catalucci.

A memorial service will be held at the Westwood Recreation Center on Monday, June 17th at 7pm.
