Diana A. Mele

Diana A. (Lyons) Mele, age 79, of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family.  Born and raised in Paterson, NJ, she resided in Fair Lawn for the last 25 years. An active and social woman, Diana enjoyed bingo, and especially trips to Atlantic City.

Prior to retiring in 2004, she was an administrative secretary with the Whippany Park High School in Whippany, NJ for many years.

Dear partner of Jim Heiman. Beloved mother of Greg Mele and wife Keri and the late Johnny Mele and Greg and Johnny’s surviving father Dominic Mele. Cherished grandmother of C.J., Nick, Tyler, Alyssa, Breanne, Kyle, Katlin, Molly, Kerry, Travis and Jaimie.  Dear sister of John Lyons Jr. Aunt of Bernard Lyons, Karl Halteman, Peter Barone and Edward and Shari Philpot. Great aunt of Matthew and Christopher Lyons. Stepmother of Karen De Rocha and husband Peter.

The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, October 3, 2019, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  A funeral service is planned for Friday, October 4, 2019, 11 am at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Paterson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Diana to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept.142 Memphis, TN 38148 would be appreciated.
