Gloria T. (McGann) O’Connor, age 83, of River Edge, NJ and Montauk, NY passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019.  A woman of strong faith, she was a parishioner of both St. Peter the Apostle Church in River Edge and St. Therese Church in Montauk where she served as a Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion as well as being a member of the Linus Club of St. Peter Church.    Mrs. O’Connor was a leader with Girl Scout Troop 97 of River Edge and a member of the United Federation of Teachers.  A world traveler, Gloria enjoyed crocheting, the beach, shopping and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Prior to retiring in 1991, she was a school teacher with the New York City Department of Education in P.S. 58. for 34 years.

Beloved wife of the late James O’Connor.  Loving and devoted mother of James O’Connor and wife Claire and Jeanne Massaro and husband John.  Cherished grandmother of Sean, Danielle, Connor, Lauren, Emma, Paige and James.  Cherished great-grandmother of Caiden.  Dear sister of Geraldine Moriarty and the late William and Charles McGann.  Dear sister-in-law of John O’Connor and Dolly O’Connor.

The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, January 1, 2020, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 2, 2020, 9:30 am at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 445 Fifth Avenue, River Edge, NJ.  Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gloria to Tomorrow’s Children Fund, C/O Hackensack University Medical Center, 30 Prospect Avenue, Hackensack, NJ 07601 would be appreciated.
