Robert Lawrence McGrath


Robert Lawrence McGrath, age 76, a 47-year resident of Waldwick, NJ passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020.  Born in Weehawken and raised in Union City, he was a graduate of North Bergen High School where he excelled in football, earning All County, All State and All Metropolitan team honors.  His excellence in football earned him a scholarship to Lake Huron College in South Dakota.  An avid sportsman, he enjoyed golfing and was a football coach with North Bergen Football in the late 70’s.  A loyal supporter of all his grandchildren’s endeavors, Bob was truly fond of being an enthusiastic spectator of their sporting events.

Prior to retiring, he was a foreman with Anheuser-Busch in Newark for 30 years.

Beloved husband of Susan (Servilio) McGrath.  Loving and devoted father of Robert Jason McGrath and wife Sage.  Cherished grandfather of James, Elizabeth and William McGrath.  Dear brother of George, Rita, Viola, Everett, Roland, James, Dorothy, and Joan McGrath.

The family will receive relatives and friends for memorial visitation on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, 1-4 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robert to either The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014 or Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 would be appreciated.
