Wanda P. Sabre

Wanda P. Sabre (nee Innocenti), born May 13 1942, to Angelo and Mary Innocenti, took her last sober breath on September 27 2020, and went to live with the Angels above. She was predeceased by her parents and sisters Nancy and Anna. Her loving daughters Lisa Lanzalotto of Paramus and Christine Jacaruso (Steven) of Ortley Beach are heartbroken and will forever miss the amazing mother that she was. The true light of her life though, were her two grandchildren Alexandra and Zachary Alba, who brought her so much joy that there was nothing that she would not do for them, ever. She enjoyed viewing life through their eyes and loved them unconditionally.

She was loved by many nieces and nephews and will be lovingly remembered by Rhonnie and Reggie, Rhonda and Elizabeth and Jane and Janet. Her nieces Rhonnie and Jane remained at her bedside through the last 5 days of her life,  never leaving her side. Wanda had a spiritual and emotional resiliency that allowed her to survive the ravages of alcoholism, to die a woman of honor and dignity, having just short of 31 years sober. She would help anyone and was often guilty of ignoring her own needs to help others in need. She had an optimistic spirit, and always tried to find the silver lining around every cloud. Her most recent return to the Roman Catholic doctrine of her youth, and attending church on Sundays, brought her much joy and hope, not just for herself, but for those she loved dearly.

Wanda’s generosity  knew no boundaries, and she asked for very little in return. Towards the end of her life, she surrounded herself with friends who meant a great deal to her, and she has clearly made an impression on everyone she came in contact with. She will be missed more than words can express here. There is just so much....and very little room to say it all.

She lived by these words, daily: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference”  She tried to accept God’s plan for her, and in the end she was  wise enough to know the difference. Aligning her will with God’s will, she took her last breath and was able to let go of this life, and move peacefully into the next.

The family will receive relatives and friends for memorial visitation, Sunday, November 22, 2020, 2 - 4 PM with a service to follow at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home Inc., 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410.  For those who are unable to attend in person, you may attend via Zoom at

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wanda may be made to Friends of Spring House  P.O. Box 9233, Paramus, NJ 07652.
