Frank J. La Rosa


Frank J. La Rosa, age 88, of Waldwick, NJ passed away peacefully at home of heart failure on Monday, February 1, 2021.  Born and raised in Paterson, NJ to Sofia and Sebastiano La Rosa, he resided in Waldwick for 43 years.  Mr. La Rosa proudly served with the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 at the White Sands Proving Ground in New Mexico as well as working with Wernher von Braun on guided missiles.  Active throughout his life, Frank enjoyed golfing, bowling, softball and baseball where he played a season in the minor leagues.  Travelling was one of his true passions and his time spent with family during many trips, especially to Sandals Montego Bay and Woodloch Pines, PA was always treasured.  Frank was a loyal NY Yankees and NY Jets fan.  He was loved and will be missed more than words can ever describe.

He was a plant manager with Thermwell Products (Frost King) in Mahwah, NJ since 1951 and was still employed at the time of his passing.

Beloved and adored husband of 47 years of Lorraine (Smith) La Rosa.  Devoted and loving father of Shirley Albanese and husband Matt, Debbie Rodriguez and husband Mike, Frank La Rosa, Jr. and wife Melissa, Cheryl La Rosa-Coady and Sebastian La Rosa.  Dear brother-in-law of Clark Smith. Cherished grandfather of 14 and great-grandfather of 16 with another on the way.  He was predeceased by dear siblings Sam, Bert, Joe, Fannie and Lucy.

The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, February 4, 2021, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ,  A funeral service is planned for Friday, February 5, 2021, 10:30 am at the funeral home.  Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank to the ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929, would be appreciated.

Was so sorry to hear of Frank's passing. Was informed by my aunt, his sister-in-law Laura La Rosa. My deepest sympathy to Lorraine and the rest of his family.
