Maureen Dagmar Thissen

Maureen Dagmar (McPeak) Thissen, age 50, of Oakland, NJ passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving children, husband and friends.  Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1970, she resided in Washington Township and Fair Lawn, NJ before moving to Oakland five years ago.  Maureen was the owner of H. Thissen, Jr. Landscaping in Fair Lawn as well as a dispatcher with Citywide Towing in Hawthorne for 20 years.  Maureen was a devoted nurse, adored wife, loving mother and beloved Nana.  Maureen was the life of the party and the light of everyone’s life around her.  She will be forever loved, always missed and never forgotten.  May she rest in peace.

Maureen was the beloved wife of Henry Thissen, Jr.  Loving mother of Christopher, Cortney, Caitlyn and Henry James, as well as cherished Nana of Brayden Thissen.  Beloved daughter of Ginner “Virginia” and the late James McPeak.  Dear sister of James J. McPeak, Matthew McPeak and Karen and sister Kelly Lorentzen and husband Allan.  Cherished aunt of Frank Jr. and Alyssa, Tyler and Brittany, Jonny, Andrew, Ashley and Marissa Thissen, as well as Madeline Lorentzen.  Dear sister-in-law of Frank Thissen and wife Catherine.  Maureen’s memory will forever be cherished by all her loved ones, and continue to live on through her husband, children, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends Monday, February 8, 2021, 2-4 & 6-9 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500, vpfairlawn.com.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 9, 2021, 10 am at St. Catharine R.C. Church, 905 South Maple Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ.  Entombment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maureen to Susan G. Komen North Jersey, 4 Campus Drive, Parsippany, NJ 07054 would be appreciated.

To the Thissen/Mcpeak Families: I am so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Maureen many years ago at Hudson City Savings Bank. We have lost touch over the many years that have passes. She was a beautiful person, devoted wife, mother and friend. She will truly be missed.
