Gerard Hickey

Gerard Hickey 8/20/1945 – 2/5/2021

With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved husband and father, Gerard Joseph Hickey on February 5th, 2021. Beloved and devoted husband of 53 years of Lordis (Calabio) Hickey.  Loving father of Kathleen Valencia and husband Rodrigo, Michele Gemin and husband Alberto and Amanda Hickey.  Cherished grandfather of Gerard and Andrew Valencia and Lucia Gemin.  Dear brother of Joseph, Francis, David, Michael, Danny and Edward Hickey, Patricia McNamara, Mary Altare, Catherine Harris and their spouses.  He is also survived by eight of his brothers and sisters-in-law, and 46 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved parents Joseph and Anita Hickey and dear siblings Anita and Teddy Hickey.

A dedicated family man, Gerard loved being part of such a large and unruly group. He was always proud of his distinguished career with Banker’s Trust, where he began working for the company at the age of 16 and worked his way up to Managing Director before retiring after 37 years. Mr. Hickey proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  Gerard passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the family is postponing a memorial service until the summer.  For those considering an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Gerard to Alzheimer’s New Jersey, 425 Eagle Rock Avenue, Suite 203, Roseland, New Jersey 07068, would be appreciated.

To Lordis and her family: I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Gerard. He was a delightful person and I really enjoyed how he interacted with my late husband Roger. May you find comfort in your memories and the sympathy of friends.
