Helen Margaret "Peg" Shelley

Helen Margaret “Peg” (Stratton) Shelley, age 99, a longtime resident of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.  Born and raised in Paterson, NJ, she resided there until losing her parents at the age of 21 and moving to New York to live with her brother, Chet.  A faithful member of Warren Point Presbyterian Church in Fair Lawn, she was a member of the Bible Study Group.  Active throughout her life, Helen was a member of Order of the Eastern Star – Stella Chapter No. 20 of Clifton, the Happy Seniors and St. Anne Seniors both of Fair Lawn and AARP Saddle Brook Chapter.  Outgoing and social, she enjoyed casino trips and dinning out.  She also enjoyed sewing and puzzles.  Helen was truly thankful to God for her blessed life.

Prior to retiring, she was a crossing guard with the Borough of Fair Lawn and a part time secretary.  After her children had grown, she joined her husband traveling to many places in the United States and abroad.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Shelley.  Loving, devoted and proud mother of Patricia Ann Schaffer (Laszlo), Jacqueline Joy Bush (late Robert) and Roy Robert Shelley (Marylou).  Cherished grandmother of Christopher Van Dalinda (Kelly), Lisa Napora (Krys), Shelley Mazzuca (Dave), Scott Bush (Erika) and Todd Bush (Casey).  Adored great-grandmother of Haley, Luke and Zack Mazzuca, Lilla and Kristian Bush and Ella and Nora Bush.  Dear sister of the late Chet Stratton.

The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, April 1, 2021, 4-6 pm with service following at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  Cremation will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Helen to Pompton Reformed Church, 59 Hamburg Turnpike, Pompton Lakes, NJ 07422 would be appreciated.
