Joseph Salvator Rorro

Joseph Salvator Rorro, Sr., age 87, of Hawthorne, NJ passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family.  Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, he resided in Glen Rock for 53 years before moving to Hawthorne several years ago.  He proudly served with the U.S. Army from 1957-1959.  A graduate of St. Peter’s College in Jersey City with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, he became a Certified Public Accountant.  A man of strong faith, Joe was a devoted parishioner of St. Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock where he served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and volunteered countless hours with the Pre-Cana Ministry, Marriage Encounter, CYO retreats, Hospital Visitation Ministry and St. Cajetan Ministry for the unemployed and underemployed.  Mr. Rorro was a member of ROMEO’s of St. Catharine’s (Retired Old Men Eating Out).  An avid gardener, he also enjoyed traveling, trips to NYC, Broadway plays, decorating his home for holidays, watercolor with Sydney but his greatest joy came from being Grandpa.  To Joe, his family was his world, he loved them immensely and would do anything for them.

Prior to retiring, he was a CPA and consultant with Resources Global Professionals in Parsippany.  Previously, he was employed with Coopers & Lybrand in NYC, in charge of recruiting for 27 years.  His extensive experience in recruiting gave Joe the knowledge to generously help so many by job coaching and assistance with resume writing.

Beloved and devoted husband of Gloria (Pratesi) Rorro.  Loving father of Jeannine Pragdat and husband Rowan, Joseph S. Rorro, Jr., Robert Rorro and wife Teresa and Nancy Keenan.  Cherished grandfather of Joseph III, Emily, Livia, John, Lucas, Liam, Danielle, Matthew, Jimmy, Tommy and Lucy.  Adored son of the late Angelo and Jennie (Ciccone) Rorro.  Dear brother of the late Jules Rorro and wife Rosie, the late Michael Rorro and wife Angela and the late Catharine Corrado and husband Vincent.  He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

My loving Joe - so many beautiful memories of you and Gloria leading us on the path of extending ourselves and loving each other completely. Although Matthew has been gone for so many years, I know he would have felt the same way. My prayers and love are with your family.

Although we haven't seen you in a while, we will miss knowing that you are but a stones-through away. We hear the angels welcoming you Joe; they know they are about to experience a really good time!
