John F. Tuohy


John F. Tuohy, 78, of Saddle Brook, NJ passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021.  Born and raised in New York City, he resided in Fair Lawn prior to settling in Saddle Brook 53 years ago.  He was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church in Saddle Brook.  He was formerly a volunteer fireman with the  Fair Lawn Fire Department.  An avid collector of model trains and lighthouses, John was an amateur photographer who will be remembered best for his love for family and friends especially his grandchildren.

Prior to retiring in 2002, he was a mechanic with Apex Trucking Company in Secaucus for 35 years.  

Beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Foley) Tuohy.  Loving and devoted father of Kathleen Dohm and husband John and John J. Tuohy.  Cherished grandfather of Garrett, Travis, Brian, Dylan and Mackenzie.  Dear brother of Margie Jordan and husband James and the late Jeremiah Tuohy.  Adored companion of Margaret Bowie.  Caring step grandfather of Codey Dohm.  He is also survived by Lorraine Tuohy and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, 4 – 9pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home Inc., 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410.  A funeral service is planned for Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 10:30am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the VFW Post 3484, 44 Market Street, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663.

Kathleen Erin & John Joe, I have just learnt the sad news of your dads passing. He truly was a lovely gentle man. Terry & I were very fond of him. We have wonderful memories of our visits Saddle Brook and the time we spent together. I hope John is smiling down on all of us. May he rest in peace. Xx
