Leida "Ma" C. Bindi


Leida C. (Marino) Bindi, age 78, of Belleville, NJ passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.  Born and raised in Newark, NJ, she resided in Belleville for 50 years.  Ma, as she was affectionately known, was an exceptional cook and known for feeding everyone who crossed her path.  She was the founder and President of Italian Night in the Hood. Active throughout her life, she enjoyed bowling, singing and dancing.  Her greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends, who she treasured.

Prior to retiring in 2020, she was a medical receptionist with the office of Dr. Carl F. Mercurio in Belleville for 20 years.

Loving partner of 35 years of Annie Paserchia.  Loving and devoted mother of Francine Lupo and husband Robert and cherished and adored grandmother of their children Francesca, Robert Jr. and Victoria.  Loving and devoted mother of Chief Phyllis Bindi and partner Maria Viniam.  She is also survived by many beloved cousins and her loyal canine companion, Philly.

The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday, May 23, 2021, 1-6 pm at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  A funeral service is planned for Monday, May 24, 2021, 10 am at Van Riper-Ellis Broadway Baptist Church, 7-01 River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Leida to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org would be appreciated.
