Nello Arrighi

Nello Arrighi, age 78, of Glen Rock, NJ passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at home with his loving wife by his side.  Born and raised in Barga, Italy, he emigrated to the United States settling in North Bergen until moving to Glen Rock in 1976.  A passionately patriotic man who was always seen wearing his Army hat, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  Nello enjoyed golfing and was a loyal Yankees and Jets fan.  He loved spending time with family, especially at the annual family vacation to the shore.  His greatest joy came from being a constant supporter in all of his grandchildrens’ endeavors, especially cheering them on at sporting events.

Prior to retiring in 2013, he was a butcher with A & P in Woodcliff Lake.  Previously, he owned and operated his own butcher shop, Town Meat Market in River Vale for over 20 years.

Beloved husband of Diane (Cunningham) Arrighi.  Loving and devoted father of Lisa Zaranski and husband Adam and Daniel Arrighi and wife Jessica.  Cherished grandfather of Paul and Katie Zaranski and Andrew and Ashley Arrighi.  He is also survived by his devoted canine companion, Cosmo.

The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, October 7, 2021, 4-8 PM with a 7:30 PM service at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ.  Cremation will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Nello to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014, would be appreciated.

Diane, Lisa, Dan, Adam, Jess, Paul, Katie, Andy, Ashley (and Cosmo), We are deeply saddened by hearing of Nello's passing. He was such a great person to all of us and will be missed very much. We will never forget the great memories from all of the birthday parties, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day and all of the gatherings in between. Watching him expertly carve up the holiday ham or turkey was always a highlight. He always made perfect slices with ease which is not easy to do for most people. Please accept our condolences. We are thinking and praying for you. Pete, Cara, Ava & Declan Zaranski
